Week 1 in Review

NOTE: For those with new EEL binders, your page #'s will not be the same as mine. I think you are 2 pages off (i.e. 467 → 469... I THINK).

Thank you for a great first day!!! Here is a recap of what we reviewed:
1) Spelling: lists begin in your EEL on pg. 467  (this is completely optional and will just be mentioned in class)
2) Punctuation/Capitalization rule(s): Rules 1 & 2 from your EEL pg. 457
  1. Capitalize the 1st letter in every sentence
  2. End a sentence with an end mark (.) (?) (!)
3) Homophones: EEL pg. 485

Level A Level B Level C

ad - advertisement hear - to perceive sound tacks - movement
add - to count here - in this place tax - charged cost

dear - beloved
deer - animal

4) Grammar Charts: A & B copy, copy, copy :-) Next week they will race against me to copy Chart A from  memory. Begin to memorize the chant. Here's the link: https://youtu.be/gpQYk3k0eU8
5) Editing: In the Editing section of the Student Notebook, your student will have their first editing exercises (John 1:1-9) BTW- when you fold on the dotted line, remember to fold the page forward
6) IEW:
AHBW- finish pg. 15 key-word outline (try and challenge them to use no more than 2 symbols for each sentence- focus on having them find key words not substitute symbols for every word) AND pgs. 20-21. Photocopy pg. 22 and "assess" your student's work.

Vocabulary Words: radiant, fashioned, serpentine, towering, fanciful (found on pg. 258 in your AHBW book)

Optional:
Our Mother Tongue Lessons 10, 11, 12, 26

Just as an FYI: Again, I have Pinterest boards for Both Foundations & Essentials ideas (I separate the Foundations by subject) http://www.pinterest.com/achisek/cc-essentials/
