Week 16 in Review

1. Punctuation/Capitalization rule(s): Rule 16 from your EEL pg. 457

     Use a colon:

(a) to introduce a list or question

(b) between hours/minutes/seconds in time

(c) between chapter and verse or volume and page numbers in references or footnotes

2. Homophones: EEL pg. 485

• Student A: sealing-ceiling
• Student B: threw-through
• Student C: gait-gate

3. Grammar Charts:

Review chart DD, E & F.
4. Weekly Practice sentences: EEL pg. 433 (in Sentences section of the Student Notebook)  All 5 sentences for Week 16   5.  Spelling (optional): EEL pg. 467    6. Editing (optional): In the Editing section of the Student Notebook, your student will have their 16th week exercises 7. Analytical Task Sheet: Beginning students: Complete tasks 1-4 (on sentences 1-4) and experiment a little with task 5- Modification.    Advanced students tasks 1-5 on all sentences this week. 8.  AHBW Your Inventive Writing piece is due next week. 1st year students complete 1 paragraph. 2nd & 3rd year students complete 2-3 paragraphs.

Week #15 in Review

1. Punctuation/Capitalization rule(s): Rule 15 from your EEL pg. 457

             Use a semicolon to replace conjunctions in compound sentences.

2. Homophones: EEL pg. 485

• Student A: their-there-they’re, blew-blue, flew-flu
• Student B: night-knight, right-rite-write, high-hi
• Student C: eight-ate

4. Weekly Practice sentences: EEL pg. 433 (in Sentences section of the Student Notebook)  All 5 sentences for Week 15   5.  Spelling (optional): EEL pg. 467    6. Analytical Task Sheet: Beginning students: Complete tasks 1-4 (on sentences 1-4) and experiment a little with task 5- Modification.    Advanced students tasks 1-5 on all sentences this week. 8.  AHBW For homework, you will finish your work on the topic: Roman engineering, and write the final paragraph of your research report on Ancient Rome. Please refer to lessons 24 & 25 (p.199-205) in your AHW. Be sure to practice your sentence openers and include the other stylistic techniques we have covered as your mom instructs. Moms of first years, remember the EZ + 1 rule; however, you know what your student is capable of doing. Put all three paragraphs together into your final report and include your bibliography. The sample checklist of the final report can be found on p. 203.
